Utilities, telecom companies, financial institutions, and other service providers use technology to deliver critical programs and services to their customers. Their reliance on technology means they must invest in robust IT infrastructure that integrates seamlessly with operations and business units.
To sharpen our focus and provide a greater breadth of knowledge, Charter is proud to partner with select IT manufacturers who lead in service provider products and solutions. This allows us to build long-term and trusted relationships with our partners, which ultimately provides our clients with a better experience from design to operation.
Complementing our partners’ technology, Charter has invested in a suite of services that help service providers quickly adopt and operationalize technology. This includes our global order management system that continuously tracks and updates clients, advanced testing and proof of concept in our multi-vendor labs, custom training programs, project management services delivered by our senior engineering team, and 24x7x365 support.
Charter has worked with service providers throughout Canada and around the globe. Our most notable projects include the delivery of a 300-node national network throughout Australia for a large financial institution, designing a province-wide communications network for an energy utility in Alberta, a MPLS network for a provincial power authority, and a custom-built data center solution for one of the world’s largest online dating sites. We also delivered one of the first national Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based voice services in Canada, empowering corporations to dramatically reduce their long distance bills.
In 2003, Charter made history when it delivered reliable internet access to 80 remote communities in the Arctic Circle. This included delivery to the northernmost settlement on the continent, Grise Fiord, located just 1,500 kilometres from the North Pole.
